Welcome
to the Loxley Civic Center
The
Loxley Civic Center is a multi use facility located inside the
Municipal Park. It is elegant enough to hold a wedding, functional
enough for all of our senior activities, tough enough to have
our children's summer activities, and wild enough to contain
professional wrestling events. This facility is the center of
all cultural activities in Loxley.
The
building and initial equipment were donated to the town by the
Schmeiding Foundation of Springdale, Arkansas. Mr. Lawrence
Schmeiding, CEO Schmeiding Foundation had a seasonal produce
sales and distribution company located in Loxley for years.
He later relocated to his home state of Arkansas where he resides
to this day. Mr. Schmeiding felt he needed to give back to the
community that he called his summer home. The result was the
Loxley Civic Center. The town has used this building in a variety
of ways since.
The
building houses the senior activity programs that Loxley offers,
as well as all of the summer youth activities. A variety of
events are scheduled on weekends for a fee to help offset the
operating expenses. After Hurricane Ivan, the center housed
FEMA, The Red Cross, the Salvation Army, and many other entities
to help in the local recovery after the storm. When Hurricane
Katrina hit the area, the American Red Cross set up as a distribution
center. Almost any kind of event one can think of can be held
here. The following is a list of events that have been held
in the past or are being held now.
With
your rental of the entire building, you get access to all areas
except the office and the craft room. The main room is 3600 square
feet of open space that will handle a banquet of approximately
300 people. There is a smaller carpeted conference room that can
be used for any variety of purposes. There is also a pool room
that houses a pool table with house sticks. The civic center kitchen
is a professional level warming kitchen. There is also a 28' X
