The Town of Loxley is now accepting applications for the position of Municipal Court Magistrate. Qualified applicants must have a High School Diploma/GED/or equivalent with four years of administrative experience in a judicial or legal environment or a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field if no previous experience exists, or any equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for the job. Certification as a Municipal Court Magistrate must be obtained within three years of employment. Applicants must possess and maintain a valid Alabama Driver’s License and have the ability to read, write, and operate a computer. This job classification is considered to be safety-sensitive. The rate of pay is commensurate with qualifications. Entry Level $14.09/Hour.

JOB DESCRIPTION: A Municipal court magistrate accepts fine/court cost payments, holds probable cause hearings, issues warrants, holds initial appearance/bond hearings with incarcerated defendants, as well as performs clerical duties of the case files in the court. Other duties as required.
