“The Town of Loxley repaired a broken sewer line this afternoon, the following is for immediate press release:
The Town of Loxley reports a sanitary sewer overflow has occurred on a Right-of-Way just south of the intersection of Hwy.59 and County Road 49 North in Loxley. The overflow occurred from approximately 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 7 until 4:30 p.m. The estimated volume spilled is 1,000-10,000 gallons.
The overflow resulted from a contractor boring through a 3” low pressure sewer main that was repaired immediately upon discovering the leak. There was no effects to local waterways and the Town of Loxley is taking all necessary steps to limit public health hazards or potentially harmful effects on the environment.
The Alabama Department of Environmental Management and Baldwin County Health Department has been notified.
